I spent this Valentines day with a great couple, Sarah and Eric. We’ve done an engagement shoot in the past, but I needed a couple for a commercial shoot at the Oakland Zoo, and they were up for the romantic activity. It was one of the coolest shoots I’ve ever done, and the access that we got from the zoo was nothing short of exceptional. The images are for the zoo to promote their wedding packages, and I was more than happy to take the job. We took some shots in front of their Snow building, and then moved into the Zoo. The employees brought out a snake and a ferret. They had names, but I forgot them. I tried to capture the great features of the park, as well as capture the romance between Sarah and Eric. Miguel made this great video from the engagement shots I sent him. It was a pleasant surprise to see my work put together in a slideshow. We had a great time during the shoot, and despite the rain (or because of it), the photos came out very beautiful and unique. Miguel used the “Umbrella” song covered by John Peter West. I use John’s music on my wedding photography site, More info on John West: http://www.johnpeterwest.com/
Miguel and Audrey were a great couple to work with. With Miguel, being a serious model it was easy to get the couple relaxed for the camera. The photos reflect my general shooting style of capturing the feelings that are already there. Even though it was raining that day, we decided to go through with the shoot anyway. We were all glad we did, since the images would not be as unique without the rain. I include engagement sessions in all my weddings in order to get acquainted with the couple. Come wedding day we are all relaxed and have a great connection, which is vital for capturing breath taking images.
Sarah and Erik are going to make a great addition to my soon to be released wedding website. They are a great couple from Petaluma. Both of them are into fitness, and make quite easy subjects to photograph. In addition to the couple shots, they asked me to take a few fitness shots. I was not sure what fitness shots entailed, but it was not long untill I figured it out. My friend Neela was on hand to hold my lights and make sure that the camera gear did not get wet. Also, notice the logo on the images. Created for me by a friend, Nadia, who updates her blog a lot more often than I do.
