Children’s photography is something I enjoy, and I want to do more of. Cute kids, really make my job easy! This little boy’s adorable looks, combined with a “joie de vivre” that only come from the young (& young at heart!), made this session a delight! His mother wanted to create an Andy Warhol-style multi-image print. We used their rooftop in San Francisco’s North Beach neighborhood and a few local nooks and crannies for our shoot.
My job leads to relationships with professionals in every field imaginable. This shoot was done for trade with the mom of this little boy, an amazing stylist named Shea English. Since my wardrobe was in need of a revamp, Shea hooked me up with her assistant Amanda Massi who went through my closet and we hit the town for some serious shopping. Never thought I would talk like this, but there you have it, and i feel great not wearing jeans 350 days a year! Thank you ladies, for a fantastic trade and a fun shoot!
Also, please check out Amanda Massi’s run for Miss California USA, https://www.facebook.com/missSF Her passion in life is to put an end to female sex slavery all over the world.
September brought the union of a fantastic couple, Kim & Mike. The ceremony was held at the historic Swedenborgian Church of San Francisco in the Pacific Heights neighborhood. The church has been designated a National Historic Landmark, and with it’s amazing architecture and decorative stained glass, it was the perfect romantic setting for a wedding.
After the ceremony, we did an exclusive shoot with the newlyweds at Crissy Field in the Presidio of San Francisco. With such a joyous couple as the subjects and the Bay and the Golden Gate Bridge as a backdrop, my job as a photographer was made easy.
The reception was held at the InterContinental Mark Hopkins Hotel at the crest of San Francisco’s Nob Hill. Bay Area Alma Desnuda provide their acoustic grooves to set the mood for celebration. Because Mike works for a local wine distributor, there was an abundant flow of exquisite wine at the reception. Congrats Mike and Kim!
Something special happened on Ocean Beach the other day. I teamed up with a San Francisco artist,Andres Amador to capture his art on camera. He was commissioned by Rik and Lou Ann to create one of his signature art pieces on the beach, to commemorate their love. The photos will be used for the wedding invitations, and are meant to be pieces of art to share with the couple’s friends. Andres and Ember led a team of the couple and their friends, to create a unique piece on the beach. Each person chose a flower, and created their own on the beach. This was not an easy project to orchestrate, since a sufficiently low tide around sunset only happens a few times a month, and summer days are often foggy on Ocean Beach. This combined with everyone’s schedules, its a marvel that we were able to pull this off. There was a caterer on site, serving up delicious food and peach champagne jello shots. The jello shot toast is an instant classic in my book. Looking forward to the wedding. Would like this for your engagement or proposal? Check out Andres Amador on the web.
It has been a while since I last posted on my blog, so I need to catch up on all the great shoots and travels I’ve been on, over the past month. This shoot with Dana and Joni took place in late March. They are a great couple, and have an electrifying chemistry between the two of them. The shoot took place a bit after 5pm in downtown San Francisco, with very little sunlight left. I had my lovely assistant, Olya, help me with the lights, which are mandatory for shooting after dark. We strolled down Grant Street, through China Town, to North Beach, coming back to Belden Place. We even managed to make our way into an apartment building in China Town for a cool balcony shot. Unfortunately, the conditions of the fire escape made it dangerous to get outside, so we kept going. We got to photograph underneath one of my favorite art installations in the city, “Language of Birds“, by Brian Goggins and Dorka Keen.
