After Denver I flew out to New York to do photograph my clients for a December wedding in the Dominican Republic. They are a really great couple, and I am very excited to photograph their destination wedding. I am glad I was able to come out for their engagement session, since it always takes a bit of time to get a relationship going between a couple and a photographer. We ended up photographing around Central Park, a fantastic New York location.

Hodson’s Shoot 6.14.10

Last week I had an opportunity to shoot a bar and grill in Denver for the owner, builder and the designer. This 3 in 1 deal worked out quite well, especially since I got to spend time with my cousin Jenia Kosoy, who happens to be the lead designer on the project. I don’t typically blog about non-wedding endeavors, but this one deserves a special mention. Jenia, did an amazing job creating this place, and I can honestly say that I am impressed. What’s random is that we have the same name (Gene is Jenia in Russian), but our last names although the same are from two different Kosoy lineages. Kosoy is an extremely rare name, so go figure. Jessica and Scott Engagement Shoot 5.23.10

This fun couple was referred to me via a Facebook friend. They have an out of state photographer take photos at their upcoming wedding, but no engagement shots. I feel pretty good about the way the shots came out, and glad that this lovely couple got a bit of practice in front of the camera before the big day. We started off the shoot at the Conservatory of flowers, and moved onto the grungy blocks of Haight Street, making a special stop at Amoeba records. Overall it was a very fun, easy going shoot.

Angeline and Sebastian Wedding (part 2)

This is the portrait session I did for Angeline and Sebastian’s wedding. Their dog, Mariposa, is a huge part of their life and they insisted on getting her for the shoot. I loved the idea of using their pet in the photos, but wanted to do something unusual and fun. These are the results of inserting this dressed up wedding couple and their dog in one of the busiest parts of the city. I absolutely love taking photos in North Beach. I loved every minute of this shoot. They are truly a great couple, and I am really glad I was part of their special day.

Allie and Jenny 3.12.10

I first photographed Allie and her boyfriend a few years ago. This time Allie and her sister Jenn contacted me for a fun shoot for their dad’s birthday present. We met at the Conservatory of Flowers and went inside the tunnel adjacent to it. There were some guys playing Jazz at the end of the tunnel, so naturally I sat them in front of the musicians. We stayed there for a few songs, allowing them to enjoy the music while I took some shots, featuring the musicians. I left them a card along with a tip, hoping they’ll contact me for their closeups. I really enjoy incorporating the natural environment, especially if its interesting people.

Sarah and Eric 2.14.10

I spent this Valentines day with a great couple, Sarah and Eric. We’ve done an engagement shoot in the past, but I needed a couple for a commercial shoot at the Oakland Zoo, and they were up for the romantic activity. It was one of the coolest shoots I’ve ever done, and the access that we got from the zoo was nothing short of exceptional. The images are for the zoo to promote their wedding packages, and I was more than happy to take the job. We took some shots in front of their Snow building, and then moved into the Zoo. The employees brought out a snake and a ferret. They had names, but I forgot them. I tried to capture the great features of the park, as well as capture the romance between Sarah and Eric. Shoot with Eric 1.24.10

Eric contacted me to get some head shots and body shots done for his modeling portfolio. We had a great shoot, with 3 looks and 3 locations including Oyster Point Marina and the Embarcadero. Hopefully Eric will get some modeling work soon.

Audrey and Miguel Engagement Shoot Video

Miguel made this great video from the engagement shots I sent him. It was a pleasant surprise to see my work put together in a slideshow. We had a great time during the shoot, and despite the rain (or because of it), the photos came out very beautiful and unique. Miguel used the “Umbrella” song covered by John Peter West.
