Eddy Santana, a local DJ from Energy 92.7 is coming out with a 2 disk album. The concept for this shoot was to have two girls with Eddy, one a sexy pornstar looking girl and one a rockstar which corresponds to the music on each disk. We did the shoot under the freeway, right outside the station.

What a great experience to go shoot at Coachella as well as party with friends. We went to the actual festival only 2 of the 3 days we were in Indio. Saturday was spent at the Anthem Magazine pool party named “La fiesta de fiestas”. What an experience, they had free flowing booze, food, girls and a donkey. I shoot many events, and have gotten lucky with a few killer referrals. However, this is one of those events where I am flabbergasted at even the thought of being invited to shoot such an evening. The sold out event was to raise money for the guest of honor, Angela Bofill. Carlos Santana, Bonnie Raitt, Narada Michael Walden, Mary Wilson and other great musicians. The photos are destined to probably end up in SF Chronicle, Jet and some other publications.

I got a chance to take some cool shots of Splyce, in an attempt to perfect my DJ shooting techiques. I set up 2 flashes, one on camera, and one off to the side to create a hard light effect. DJ Splyce is well known, especialy in LA area…here are the pics:

Weather was perfect at this year’s Lovefest, a tradition which stated in 2004. In its 3rd year the event drew over 65,000 people and tons of DJs with a party that started at 12pm on Saturday and just kept going through Sunday night at various parties all around the city. This year I decided to go under the radar and freelance for my buddies at metrowize.com Their high profiles sponsorship at the event made more sense for me to put down my phatcatphoto hat, and give them the best exposure with my photos. The event was great, although I did not keep track of which DJ was playing where, going from one stage to the next. The experience was amplified by a bit of pre partying, getting away from the sun at our friend Jason Knight’s place, located not too far from the Civic Center. As always, I don’t like to go into too many details, and give my photos a voice, enjoy!
