Anna Cecilia’s Bat Mitzvah at Stone Pine Estate

I had a great time photographing the Bat Mitzvah of Anna Cecilia at the beautiful Stone Pine Estate in Carmel Valley, CA. Although the family currently resides in Chicago, they are originally from Mexico City. Therefore, guests of the event traveled from both locations to celebrate Anna Cecilia. Most of the family stayed overnight at the estate, while others used accommodations at other nearby properties.

San Francisco Latin band, Pellejo Seco started off the night with amazing Cuban jazz, while well-know Bay Area-based DJ Solomon worked his magic to keep the party rocking into the night. A surprise performance from an amazing mariachi band capped off the night. An undeniable highlights for the birthday girl was a personalized message from the New York Yankees!

It was wonderful to see this family reunite from great distances for such a special occasion. All the guests had a great time, and the family took great care to ensure that every little detail was taken care of.

Coachella 2009 Photos

This year’s trip to Coachella was both fun and productive. Golden Voice really knows how to put on an organized, fun and safe festival. My favorite acts were Girl Talk, MIA, Ghostland Observatory, Crystal Method with LMFAO and last half of Paul McCartney. Anthem Magazine and Urb Magazine put on some great parties which kept our crew cool in the desert heat. After a trip back to the condo and a bit of BBQ most days we’d be at the festival by sundown, which is an improvement form last year, when we had unused tickets for Saturday’s performances. My photos got a good deal of traction, including URB Magazine (Article 1, Article 2), Metrowize, Fusicology and possibly some print as well.

Eddy Santana Shoot 5.26.8

Eddy Santana, a local DJ from Energy 92.7 is coming out with a 2 disk album. The concept for this shoot was to have two girls with Eddy, one a sexy pornstar looking girl and one a rockstar which corresponds to the music on each disk. We did the shoot under the freeway, right outside the station.

Coachella 2008

What a great experience to go shoot at Coachella as well as party with friends. We went to the actual festival only 2 of the 3 days we were in Indio. Saturday was spent at the Anthem Magazine pool party named “La fiesta de fiestas”. What an experience, they had free flowing booze, food, girls and a donkey. Eternal Spring Fashion Show

My friend hooked me up with Nika who put together the Eternal Spring fashion show at SomArts space. I wasn’t going to go all out, but when the show strated I was ready to go, with my friend Matt shooting from the front of the stage. I decided to take the back, facing the spectators. I got a chance to take some cool shots of Splyce, in an attempt to perfect my DJ shooting techiques. I set up 2 flashes, one on camera, and one off to the side to create a hard light effect. DJ Splyce is well known, especialy in LA area…here are the pics:

Burning Man Decompression 2007

Lovefest 2007 hits San Francisco

Weather was perfect at this year’s Lovefest, a tradition which stated in 2004. In its 3rd year the event drew over 65,000 people and tons of DJs with a party that started at 12pm on Saturday and just kept going through Sunday night at various parties all around the city. This year I decided to go under the radar and freelance for my buddies at metrowize.com Their high profiles sponsorship at the event made more sense for me to put down my phatcatphoto hat, and give them the best exposure with my photos. The event was great, although I did not keep track of which DJ was playing where, going from one stage to the next. The experience was amplified by a bit of pre partying, getting away from the sun at our friend Jason Knight’s place, located not too far from the Civic Center. As always, I don’t like to go into too many details, and give my photos a voice, enjoy!
