Had a great wedding at Mission Ranch in Carmel a few weeks ago. Very nice couple, with some great friends. I knew some of the guests from another wedding I did last year, so it turned into a very relaxed wedding. The photos from the wedding are extra special to the couple, since Petar’s family is in Serbia and with exception of his sister, no other family members could make it for the wedding. While doing her vows, Heather surprised everyone by doing them in Serbian. This was an emotional moment, and I was personally moved. For this wedding we did a photo booth setup, and it was a huge hit. One disappointing part about the wedding was that Clint Eastwood did not crash the wedding. Other than that the wedding was perfect!

La Academia Internacional de Cabrera is a small school that serves an important role in the small community of Cabrera in the Dominican Republic. Felicita Garcia started the school a few years ago, out of necessity to have good education for her own kids. Now its a fairly large school that supports the needs of over a hundred students. The rates for the school are not enough for it to survive, so they rely on private assistance. Over the past two years Casa Kimball has opened its doors to hold a benefit for the school. I missed the fundraiser by a night last year, but this year I decided to get involved and raise money for the school. In addition to sponsoring photography, I was able to raise close to $2,500 for the school through some fund raising efforts in San Francisco, and the live auction at the event. There was a number of bidders competing for a photo session with me that I ended up donating additional two sessions, which yielded two more winners for the auction. It feels great to help such a great cause. Full gallery of photos can be seen here: El Futuro 2 @ Casa Kimball Photos 4.30.11
Enjoy a short video of the event!

It has been a while since I last posted on my blog, so I need to catch up on all the great shoots and travels I’ve been on, over the past month. This shoot with Dana and Joni took place in late March. They are a great couple, and have an electrifying chemistry between the two of them. The shoot took place a bit after 5pm in downtown San Francisco, with very little sunlight left. I had my lovely assistant, Olya, help me with the lights, which are mandatory for shooting after dark. We strolled down Grant Street, through China Town, to North Beach, coming back to Belden Place. We even managed to make our way into an apartment building in China Town for a cool balcony shot. Unfortunately, the conditions of the fire escape made it dangerous to get outside, so we kept going. We got to photograph underneath one of my favorite art installations in the city, “Language of Birds“, by Brian Goggins and Dorka Keen.
